Services

The MCSR offer the following services to users for both human and mouse research:

Standard cytogenetic karyotyping by G-banding of human and mouse tissues, including cell lines and tumor samples
Additional banding procedures (NOR, QFQ, DAPI)
Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis for mapping genes, analysis of chromosome breakpoints, identification of gene amplification, identification of marker chromosomes and of structural abnormalities, and interphase FISH for examining molecular karyotypes of nondividing cells, including archived (frozen, paraffin-embedded) specimens
Microscopic analysis and digital imaging to document results of these studies
Spectral Karyotyping (SKY) to identify karyotypic rearrangements in dividing cells by simultaneous painting of all chromosomes using a single multicolor hybridization
Probe amplification and labeling
Tissue culture and slide making as required for analyses listed above
